Terms
Last updated 1 October 2026
Crosswording is a small site for making and playing mini crosswords, run by one person. By using it you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose; please read them.
Who can use it
Anyone can play. To sign in and publish, you need to be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age at which you can agree to this yourself where you live, a parent or guardian needs to agree for you.
What you publish
Puzzles you make are yours. By publishing one you let us store it, show it to anyone (or, if it’s private, to anyone with its link), list it on your profile, in the feed and in search, and offer the clues in a public puzzle to other constructors as suggestions. That permission ends when you delete the puzzle or your account, except for copies other people have already made, such as a screenshot.
Only publish what you have the right to. Clues and grids from other publications aren’t yours to repost.
What isn't allowed
Don’t publish, or use your profile for:
- hate, harassment, or anything aimed at a real person to hurt or embarrass them;
- sexual content, or graphic violence;
- someone else’s private information;
- spam, advertising, or links meant to mislead;
- pretending to be someone you’re not, including Crosswording itself;
- anything illegal, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
And don’t try to break the site: no scraping it in bulk, getting around its limits, or getting into anything that isn’t yours.
Reports and takedowns
Every puzzle and profile has a Report button. Puzzles that several people report are hidden automatically until we look at them. We may hide or remove anything that breaks these terms, and suspend or delete accounts that keep doing so. We’ll try to be fair, but it’s our call.
If something here infringes your copyright, or you think we got a decision wrong, email privacy@crosswording.org with a link to it and what you’d like done.
Your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page; what that removes is set out in the privacy policy. We may close the site, or change what it does, and we’ll give notice on the site where we can.
No guarantees
Crosswording is free and provided as it is. We do our best to keep it running and your puzzles safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or that nothing will ever be lost, and to the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses that come from using it.
Changes
If these change, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters, we’ll say so on the site before it takes effect.
